ABOUT US

We're a small farm located in the Virgin Islands focused on solar powered projects and non-GMO organic quality agricultural produce and livestock products. Our team is composed of an chemical engineer with a master's degree in business administration and an industrial construction and off-grid solar installation professional.

Welcome to Crescent Farms. We plan to complete the finishing touches of Phase One of our solar farming project in order to finally take us from "farm building" to "farm operation."

We've been very busy over the past year months with cleaning a property that's been abandoned for several years. We've purchased several small items along the way that will help make life for us easier later on. We've just recently erected our greenhouse. We have a solar system for power, a reverse osmosis system with an ultraviolet light for water purification, and dozens of chicks that we're raising for egg production. We also have two guard dogs and several power tools.

We only have a few items left on our checklist before we can become fully operational. We need to repair the front fence, build a new farm gate, and stock up on inventory items such as seeds, chicks, and livestock. We'll need feed for our animals and supplies for the greenhouse gardening to collect rainwater for our plants and animals. We hope that you'll support us and join us on this worthy cause.

RISKS AND CHALLENGES

My partner and I met in Miami while I was still in grad school getting my MBA in 2010. After a few conversations, we discovered our common interests and complimentary skills and decided that we wanted to start a farm company. We've been struggling since then to get a good location.

We finally saw the opportunity in 2013 when we successfully secured a few acres of land in the US Virgin Islands. We've spent the past 9 months clearing, cleaning, and building up an abandoned 5 acre property for free. We haven't been able to sell a thing or make a penny from this land.

Many difficulties were faced along the way. At best, we were able to purchase most of the small equipment needed for solar farming. But we still need an extra boost to purchase our start-up inventory for things like seeds, slip trays, greenhouse supplies, and animal feed so that we can get the ball rolling.

The vast majority of the people here in the Virgin Islands have been overwhelmingly supportive of us and our progress. We've benefited so much from things like storage tanks, generators, and even tractors that even I really can't believe how much help has poured into this project.

And now we're literally one step away from leaving Phase One and taking things to the next level. I hope you'll join us. This is just the beginning. From here on out, things are going to start getting very exciting and interesting.
